Analysis of movie “pride and prejudice”

The story of the movie “pride and prejudice” takes place in England, where the power of man is described with his wealth, high class society and the power of woman is described with the position of their husband in society. No wonder that marry the person who belongs to high class society is their pride especially the lower society class. The plot of this movie tried to describe that phenomenon. The movie begins when Mrs. Bennet plans to introduce her five daughters with the two young noble persons, rich, and handsome named Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley. The introduction of two young men with Bennet’s family and their five daughters Jane, Elizabeth, Marry, Kitty and Lidya appear the dramatic story. Mrs Bennet who belogs to middle class, always tried to expose her five daughters to them by bringing them to high class’ party. She asked them to dance. From this moment, Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley begin to be closer to Bennet’s family. Mr. Bingley is more grateful than Mr. Darcy. Mr Darcy seemed to love Jane, most softening and most beautiful girl. He is arrogant and proud of himself until he underestimate his couple. His behavior makes Lizzy hates him. Lizzy is described as a stubborn girl who doesn’t like to pretend. But this matter makes Mr. Darcy desperately in love with her. As the time flows, Jane marry Mr. Bingley, Lidya marry Mr. wickham, and Lizzy finally accept Mr. Darcy’s love. She believes that her prejudice to Mr. Darcy is totally wrong.

Class society issue happened in England is world phenomenon until this era. Moreover in the 1900s when this movie is set to show that class society is really pride. I’ve got the information from the course pack about British that the class society can be differed from language, clothes, behavior, and thinking. Even though, no discrimination against immigrant in this time but people from high class society still dominated. Actually this movie reflects almost same idea as what I’ve read in the course pack. It’s explain that woman doesn’t have right to choose their own life purpose, even their future husband as reflected in this movie.  It is shown in the movie that Mrs Bennet (mother) always forces her five daughters to marry with the rich and handsome young man. It shows as if woman is really discriminated that they cannot do something freely. But both of them give the different effect. The course pack actually explain more detail about the class society and women’s role in England while movie role as our understanding about the atmosphere, Lizzy’s bravery to againts her mother choice by refusing someone’s engagement. The intersting one in this movie is about the love story between Lizzy and Mr. darcy. As I got information from the courspack, high class, middle class, and lower class, are very different. In the real life it will be very impossible for Mrs. Bennet to marry her five daughters to man who belongs to high class. It is because status is very inportant in england. I think this movie tried to open audience’s mind that status is not the main part in love. It is proven in this movie that it bears down the class role that high class and lower class can be allied through marriage as reflected by Lizzy and Mr. Darcy.
